Q&A with

Rachael

What’s the most rewarding part of your role?

Helping people, whether that’s through the software we’re building or the team building it. I like to feel like we’re working toward something bigger than just features and deadlines. When the work we do makes someone’s job easier or improves patient care, it really means something.

What’s one thing you bring to a team that people might not see on paper?

Empathy and care. I’ve got the PhD, the technical background, all of that, but what really matters in product is being able to understand people. I genuinely care about the humans behind the data: the users, the team, the people impacted by our work. I think that emotional intelligence is just as important as anything on my CV.

What’s something you’ve learned that changed the way you work?

Bias for action. I used to be more focused on detailed planning, wanting to map everything out perfectly. But I’ve learned that momentum matters more. You learn faster by doing, testing, and shipping. Progress beats perfection every time.

What excites you most about the direction of VISFO right now?

The fact that we’re doubling down on meaningful innovation. We’re not building tech for its own sake, we’re solving real problems in healthcare. And there’s this energy across the team, like we’re hitting our stride in terms of speed, clarity, and ambition. It feels like a great time to be here.

What’s one piece of advice you always come back to?

Listen first. Whether it’s users, teammates, or stakeholders, there’s always something valuable you’ll miss if you rush to solve before you’ve properly heard the problem.

If your role had a tagline, what would it be?

“From chaos to clarity, without losing the heart.”
