With over a decade of software engineering experience, Brian is the person who makes everything connect seamlessly, between systems, teams, and processes. His work often provides the “platform glue” that holds complex projects together, ensuring VISFO’s technology runs smoothly and effortlessly.

Brian brings both depth and perspective to his work. He’s learned the value of slowing down, stepping back, and viewing challenges from the 1000-foot level to make sure the fundamentals are sound before diving into detail. His approach is guided by curiosity, precision, and a refusal to accept first assumptions, qualities that make him a trusted voice across the engineering team.

Outside of work, you’ll likely find Brian at a piano refining his jazz improvisation, watching films, cooking, or exploring somewhere new. Whether in code or composition, his creativity and structured thinking make him a quiet force behind VISFO’s most innovative builds.

Q&A with

Brian

What's the most rewarding part of your role?

I really enjoy being part of a very dynamic and creative team, and seeinghow all our different skillsets come together to create unique products. My role is often to provide some platform 'glue' between software/people/processes - and when that works well, nobody should notice its even there - that pleases me!

What's something you've learned that changed the way you work?

The benefits of slowing down and considering things from the 1000ft view more often. Along with that is really focusing on the fundamentals, so that they don't get lost in the detail later on.

What's one piece of advice you always come back to?

Never trust initial assumptions and always look at things from different perspectives. And if I'm feeling experimental or need to shake things up, I'm a big fan of Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies for inspiration!

What would we find you doing outside of work?

Usually trying to get better at playing Jazz piano! Or else watching films, reading, cooking, learning new tech, or out exploring some new place or other.

If your role had a tagline, what would it be?

Mr Automator - of course following in the footsteps of the somewhat different Mr Motivator :)
