KOL mapping

A baseline map of the experts who shape your therapy area, with a plan to earn their time.

Shortlist it, send it over — we come back with the shape we'd actually recommend.

What it is

What kol mapping actually is.

A baseline map of the experts who shape decisions in the therapy area, scored on the dimensions that actually predict influence rather than publication count, and turned into a plan the medical team can act on this quarter.

Designed for medical and MSL teams standing up engagement in a new TA or refreshing it after a leadership change. The map is the starting point; the engagement plan is what makes it useful.

What you get
  • Stakeholder map covering payers, KOLs, investigators, societies and advocates in the TA
  • Scoring rubric with decision power, scientific signal, coverage and gap-to-target
  • Tiered engagement plan with named owners and first-quarter cadence
  • Brief library: what to talk about with whom, anchored to the scientific narrative
  • Working session with the medical team to hand the map over live
Build a scope of work

Add the pieces you'd want and we'll build a shortlist you can review, reorder and send over. No pricing wall, no commitment — we come back with what we'd actually recommend, including anything you don't need.

How it works

Approach, modules, delivery.

Move through the tabs to see how the work runs, what it's made of and what lands at the end.

Inputs

  • Publication and congress indexes for the therapy area
  • Co-authorship and citation graphs
  • Existing medical engagement history

Method

We build a KOL graph from publications, congress activity and co-authorship, then layer in engagement history and qualitative reads from medical leads. Communities are detected via Louvain modularity; bridging KOLs are flagged via betweenness centrality. The output is a tiered, engagement-ready list, not a long roster nobody can act on.

Assumptions

  • Publication and congress activity remain reasonable proxies for scientific influence in this TA.
  • The team has bandwidth to engage 20–40 priority KOLs meaningfully per year.

Limitations

  • Influence is multi-channel; social and unstructured signal are partial.
  • A KOL's relevance is time-bounded, refresh annually as the TA evolves.
Scope builder

Think this belongs in your scope?

Add it alongside anything else that fits, then send the shortlist over. We'll reply with the shape we'd recommend — sequence included, and the parts we think you can skip.
