Method
The plan is built backwards from the imperatives. Each imperative becomes a conference objective, and each objective becomes something a named person can do inside a fixed timetable. Sessions, symposia, faculty and stakeholders are scored on relevance to those objectives, then sequenced per person into a golden path: the route through the days that maximises what that individual is uniquely placed to learn or land, with contingency where two priorities collide. Every stop on the path carries the imperative it serves, a briefing note and a listening prompt, so capture during the week is directed rather than opportunistic. A daily stand-up structure and a measurement frame are handed over with it, so the meeting can be re-aimed on day two and honestly judged afterwards.
Assumptions
- The programme is stable enough to plan against; late-breakers are handled as contingency rather than replanning.
- The strategic imperatives are agreed before planning starts. Where they are not, the first session settles them.
- Golden paths are designed for the people actually attending, not for generic roles.
Limitations
- Conferences slip. The paths carry fallbacks, but no plan survives a keynote overrunning by forty minutes untouched.
- Access to closed sessions and invite-only faculty time is outside the plan's control and is flagged where it constrains an objective.
- The plan directs capture; it does not itself score what comes back. That is insight analysis.
